CPAC Meeting Minutes
NEXT MEETING DATE: Tuesday October 11th, 2011 at 4 PM at the Southtown Planning Center, 6814 Troost Ave.
On September 13, 2011, eight (8) representatives from the
business and residential community in 231’s radio beat, city and
state departments and five (5) representatives from Metro Patrol
Division met for the one hundred and eighty-eighth Community
Police Action Cooperative (CPAC) meeting. The meeting
lasted from 4- 4:50pm.
Ravin Graham began the meeting with the expressing gratitude on
behalf of Marti Lee and her family for everyone’s thoughts and
prayers. The Open House for the Kauffman Center for the
Performing Arts is on September 18, 2011 from 11am-6pm.
The Falldo Waldo Crawldo is 9/17 and Waldo Fall Festival is on
9/24.
Sgt. Pearce gave the September Crime Stats: There were
not any armed robberies or strong armed robberies.
Burglaries: There were
five (5) non-residential burglaries. There were seven (7)
residential burglaries. Stealings: There were sixty
(60) stealings: eight (8) from buildings, sixteen (16) from
shoplifting, twenty-two (22) from auto, eight (8) auto parts and
five (5) other.
Auto Thefts: There were eight (8) stolen and two (2) were
recovered.
Neighborhood reports:
Armour Hills:
Sgt. Pearce reported on the latest disruptive activity at
Southwest High School. A productive meeting with administration
took place and new approaches are being considered relative to
cell phones being banned, using scrambling devices as well as
establishing emergency plans to prepare for various situations.
Here’s Waldo:
They experienced the tragic situation of a pedestrian being hit
by a car while crossing the street for a paper. The
Mulcahy’s shared their positive experience with teaching “Upward
Bound Certification” classes to a group of high school students.
Morningside:
Sharon sent information about the Morningside Sunset Supper to
be held on September 17th from 5-8pm.
Ward Parkway Homes:
Frank shared the neighborhoods concern over the liquor license
request from a new business opening at 74th
Terrace/Washington, the request has been continued to October 4th
since the business did not acquired the necessary signatures.
There are also ongoing complaints about the noise levels coming
from The Well. He expressed the need for decibel meters.
Parking issues also are occurring with the increase traffic from
the neighboring bars and residents are being blocked from
entering their driveways.
Waldo Homes Association:
Stephanie expressed gratitude for neighbors who communicated
about having a party that was well conducted. Also, the
vacant home issue has been taken care of.
Waldo Roadrunners:
There is an increasing numbers of homeless individuals. Due to
the severity of some of the responses being given to officers
and to shoppers, attempts are being made to encourage them to
leave the area. There has also been a recent rash of auto
repair shops being broken into.
Waldo Businesses:
Jackie reported that they are on the look out for the individual
who is dressed like a woman and robbing banks.
Brookside:
Lt. Silvey reported an increase in shoplifting, counterfeits,
miscellaneous thefts and an auto theft. There has also
been a case of check fraud where the BF was detained and
arrested.
Tower Homes:
An undercover police officer helped to apprehend a burglar who
was being chased. Parks haven’t been too much of a problem
and 3 vacant homes have sold.
The next C.P.A.C. meeting is scheduled for October 11th at
4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Southtown Planning
Center at 6814 Troost. Please continue to network with
other C.P.A.C. members, and residents, to encourage their
attendance.
