NEXT MEETING DATE: Tuesday April 12th, 2011 at 4 PM at the Southtown Planning Center, 6814 Troost Ave.

On March 8, 2011, seven (7) representatives from the business and residential community in 231’s radio beat, city and state departments and seven (7) representatives from Metro Patrol Division met for the one hundred and eighty-third Community Police Action Cooperative (CPAC) meeting.  The meeting lasted from 4-4:35pm.

Sgt. Pearce gave the February Crime Stats: Robberies: There was one (1) Armed robbery,  Burglaries:  There were three (3) Non-residential burglaries, twenty-four (24) residential burglaries (half were vacant homes and the target was copper), Stealings:  There were five (5) from buildings, three (3) from shoplifting, six (6) from auto, three (3) auto parts and four (4 ) other.

Auto Thefts:  There were four (4) stolen and all were recovered.

Neighborhood reports:

Brookside: Gary reported an increase in students being in the area and in Price Chopper.  Spring Fever may be the cause.

Rockhill Manor: Someone has been knocking on doors late at night. Once tracks were found in the snow ending at the apartments but didn’t lead to anyone.  Other than that, things have been pretty quiet.

Ward Parkway Homes:  Although three of the burglaries were in his area, things have been quiet.

Waldo Homes Association:  Dowe questioned the numerous water main breaks along 83rd St. He contacted his Council Rep, John Sharp and some attention has been given to the situation.

Waldo Roadrunners: Lt. Garcia shared the incident of an older man being kidnapped and scammed by two very well dressed black males who took the victim to a bank and made him withdraw $9,000 and then dropped him at the Walgreens in Waldo.  Police were notified and video tapes are being reviewed.

SRO Officers: Gave a brief update on Southwest High School.  Skipping/Truancy are on the rise due to spring fever.  Fire incidents appear to be mainly due to the younger students (7th & 8th grades).  There will be a new principal next school year, the current principal has found another job but will stay through the rest of the school year.

Other issues: St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Brookside is March 12th at 2:00pm. Good luck was wished for Melanie Roberts who will be going to work with Congress in Washington DC in June and July doing an internship as an advocate for Children’s Rights.

There were no other projects brought up at this time and the meeting was adjourned.

The next C.P.A.C. meeting is scheduled for April 12th  at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Southtown Planning Center at 6814 Troost. Please continue to network with other C.P.A.C. members, and residents, to encourage their attendance.
