CPAC Meeting Minutes

NEXT MEETING DATE: Tuesday July 12th, 2011 at 4 PM at the Southtown Planning Center, 6814 Troost Ave.

 

On June 14, 2011, nine (9) representatives from the business and residential community in 231’s radio beat, city and state departments and five (5) representatives from Metro Patrol Division met for the one hundred and eighty-sixth Community Police Action Cooperative (CPAC) meeting.  The meeting lasted from 4-4:35pm.

The committee met Alicia Ahlvers from the Waldo KC Library as a new member joining CPAC. Alicia and Jackie Murtha (M&I Bank) will be representing the Waldo Area Business Association in place of Rev. Barry Freese who is relocating to another church outside the area. 

Sgt. Pearce gave the May Crime Stats: Robberies: There was one (1) Strong Armed Robbery and (1) Armed robbery.  Burglaries:  There was one (1) Non-residence burglary, there were nine (9) residential burglaries (4 were vacant home burglaries.

Stealings:  There was one (1) from buildings, four (4) from shoplifting, twelve (12) from auto,  five (5) auto parts  and eight (8) other. Sgt. Pearce gave information on the various stealings and taught the lesson of being careful on using Craig’s List and not to allow door-to-door salespeople into your home. Don’t meet in out of the way places and don’t allow people to enter your home for any reason.  

Auto Thefts: One (1) was stolen (a trailer), one (1) was an attempt.   

Neighborhood reports: 

Brookside: Gary reported frustrations with petitioners for various causes, some not being reputable. Security reported there were a few shopliftings reported and doors being left open.  

Armour Hills: Craig said things have been quiet.    

HERE’S WALDO: Quiet but have experienced an increase in door-to-door security salespeople and Salvation Army solicitors calling.   

MORNINGSIDE: Sharon reported on the Greenway Robbery.  She also mentioned the Meet the Mayor and Council members on June 27th at 4 at Research.  There is a new Farmer’s Market located by St. Andrew’s, Blue Sky Farmer’s Market and it is open 7 days a week.   

Ward Parkway Homes:  Frank had very little to report. There have been calls to 911 to report solicitors in the neighborhood. They had a successful Dumpster Day.  

Waldo Homes Association:  Stephanie and Dowe reported that the vacant house at 8236 Main St. is infested with stray cats, rats and weeds.  Trash is a huge issue.  311 calls have been ignored.  Metro made notes to follow up on this location.  

Waldo Roadrunners: Lt. Garcia stated that things have been quiet however they have been dealing with usual panhandlers in the area.   

Other issues:  Captain Jantzen announced that Metro is looking for places to have “front porch” Roll Calls.  Anyone interested in hosting a roll call should contact him at 581-0730. 

The next C.P.A.C. meeting is scheduled for July 12th at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Southtown Planning Center at 6814 Troost. Please continue to network with other C.P.A.C. members, and residents, to encourage their attendance.
