CPAC Meeting Minutes
NEXT MEETING DATE: Tuesday February 14th, 2012 at 4 PM at the Southtown Planning Center, 6814 Troost Ave.
On January 10, 2012, nine (9) representatives from the business
and residential community in 231’s radio beat, city and state
departments and two (2) representatives from Metro Patrol
Division met for the one hundred and ninety-second Community
Police Action Cooperative (CPAC) meeting. The meeting
lasted from 4- 4:57pm.
Marti Lee welcomed everyone. It was announced that Gary Arb,
Brookside Price Chopper Rep, has been transferred to Overland
Park, KS. The group sent a hearty “WE MISS YOU” to Gary
via Marti’s cell phone. Gary echoed the sentiment.
Sgt. Pearce gave the December Crime Stats: Robberies:
There were six (6) armed robberies. Two were bank robberies at
Bank Midwest. It is unknown at this time if the same individual
committed both crimes. Other robberies occurred at Jimmy Johns,
JULIAN, Pizza Hut and an office building. Burglaries:
There were five (5) non-residential burglaries. There were seven
(7) residential burglaries. There were forty-three (45)
Stealings: (6) six from auto, seven (7) auto parts , eleven
(11)) from buildings, twelve (12) shoplifting, one (1) pick
pocket and eight (8) other. There were six (6) stolen
vehicles. Three (3) were recovered.
Neighborhood reports:
Morningside:
Sharon reminded everyone to attend the various Martin Luther
King celebrations this weekend. Although the KC Public Schools
are no long accredited, they still need our support.
Ward Parkway Homes:
Residents are still concerned about the recent burglary. Other
than that things are pretty quiet.
Waldo Roadrunners:
Panhandler’s for a “battered women’s shelter” at 85th/Wornall
are continuing to be a big nuisance and distraction for drivers.
Sgt. Pearce will step up efforts to address the situation.
Brookside:
Lt. Silvey reported that Bank Midwest was robbed twice and a
meat slicer was stolen from JULIAN. A flag pole was thrown
through the US Post Office front window. The volume of incidents
has been low but the seriousness of the crimes was elevated.
Tower Homes
John reported that an individual has been in the neighborhood
without seemingly having any reason to be so he has called 911
to report the suspicious activity.
Oak Meyer Gardens
Clayton asked for follow up information on the arrest of Walter
Coppage, a long time burglar in the area. He was arrested
but is now out on bail. Patty will be asked to give updated
information.
Waldo Homes:
Stephanie reported that there hasn’t been anything out of the
ordinary.
49/63:
Ruth commended the officers for their usual good job.
Court dates are coming up for the fraternity members in the
area. Rockhurst University has expressed gratitude for the
ticketing of violations.
66th/Holmes:
Sandy had nothing to report.
Other:
The next C.P.A.C. meeting is scheduled
for February 14th at 4:00 p.m. Bring
your Valentines cards to exchange with others. The meeting will
be held at the Southtown Planning Center at 6814 Troost.
Please continue to network with other C.P.A.C. members, and
residents, to encourage their attendance.
