Brookside: Gary reported an increase in scams against the elderly by two well-dressed, BM’s driving a white Cadillac.  The suspects flash a lot of cash and convinced their victims to drive them to meet someone and offer a deal to make some money and then do the bait and switch with the bags.  There has been word that there are 2 BF’s doing the same scam in another part of the city.  Marti suggested that maybe the Wednesday Sun needs to do an article on the crime and word should be send out various ways to alert the neighboring areas.   Lt. Walker shared that there was a strong armed robbery attempt in front of the post office in Brookside. The suspects were described as being in his late teens, 6ft tall and thin. He was last seen in a green cavalier with dark tinted windows.  There had been 3 shoplifting reports and 7 doors left unlocked.

HERE’S WALDO: Eula announced they will not be having meetings any longer after April.  They will limit their activities to the annual picnic.  She will try to keep the Telephone Tree going as long as the money holds out.  It was suggested to invited Councilmen John Sharp and Scott Taylor to the CPAC meetings so they can also stay updated on the crime in the area.

Morningside:  Sharon reminded everyone that with the warm weather everyone should keep their guard up when working in the yard, don’t leave garage doors open, tools unattended and lock all doors at all times.  Sharon also shared the website of www.kcmsd.net to obtain up-to-date information about the repurposing efforts of the school district for the closed schools.

Ward Parkway Homes: 3-4 cars have been broken into and wheels and tires have been taken along 72nd/Jarboe.  April 20-21st their Garage Sale is scheduled.

Waldo Homes Association:  Dowe stated things have been kind of quiet.  Annual Elections for Officers will be taking place with mostly the same members staying in their current positions.  April 22, will be the South Oak Park Clean up day for the Honeysuckle.

Waldo Roadrunners: Lt. Garcia stated that things have been quiet however they have been dealing with some new panhandler’s in the area.  Marti suggested the Roadrunner’s have information cards with addresses for shelters and food pantries that can be distributed to those who have legitimate needs.

Other issues: Officer Lutz mentioned to be aware of the increase of “stealing” gas. Take note of people carrying containers, bottles, etc. and look out of place.  With the increase of gasoline, this will be more of an issue.  Adella stated there has been a BF, mid 20’s at Walgreens and CVS asking for money and notice was given on a tree-trimmer in the area that will maneuver his way into a home and will steal things.  Every 2nd Friday, at the Trailside Center (99th/Holmes) at 7:30am there is a speaker and light refreshments. Marti reminded the group to contact metro, Capt. Jansen if they wanted to hold a Roll Call in their area.

There were no other projects brought up at this time and the meeting was adjourned.
